Thomas Staudinger Although it is still in the early stages we are already seeing significant benefits to the business following our rebrand It was important for us that customers could easily recognise Tria for its manufacturing capabilities as a separate entity to Avnet and its distribution services We’re seeing this recognition reflected in conversations with customers and partners and there is excitement around our investment into both product design and production capabilities When we first spoke several months ago you said one of the aims of establishing Tria was to streamline the interaction between manufacturer and customer Has that proven to be the case? Again it is still early days but the short answer is yes We’re mindful of ensuring we operate in our customers’ best interests and streamlining our interactions through Tria has made it easier and easier for them to work with us from design through to manufacture It provides one face to the customer from start to finish as one journey Has the new streamlined approach improved your agility other ways? Does the new approach have a positive effect on speed and scalability of Tria’s production lines Have there been noticeable shortterm production line improvements? It’s too early for us to talk about our production lines as changes are still being implemented but we have strategically invested here to ensure our streamlined approach generates further opportunities both for us and our customers You opened a new manufacturing plant in Eschbach a year ago with a view to tripling your embedded solutions business over six years You now have five years left Are you on schedule? Yes since opening Eschbach we have increased capacity and are onboarding new customers as a result so the investment into the Eschbach facility has done what it was designed to do Our customers are looking to work on more projects and take advantage of the additional production capacity so we are where we expected to be What values do you continue to share with Avnet and are there new ones in terms of product service and support that you intend to introduce at Tria? As a subsidiary of Avnet we are still aligned with their core values and those values remain an integral part of how Tria operates and interacts with customers and suppliers By enhancing our focus on proprietary products we are focusing on developing solutions to meet our customer needs and making it easier for them to fulfil those needs Increasing market share is a driving goal for any manufacturer but is rebranding alone enough to achieve that? It would be naïve of any manufacturer to feel a rebrand alone is all it takes in a competitive market There is of course a lot of work done behind the scenes Ultimately we have been adding new products to our portfolio and are working towards further building on that we are investing in our new production capabilities to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations and building relationships with key partners both from supplier and operations perspectives too Are there regions of the world where growth is still slow or stagnant? Do you expect those regions to change in terms of growth in the short or longer term? In Europe modular embedded compute technology is well adopted already but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for growth For North America there are arguably more opportunities to capitalise on because modular embedded compute technology isn’t as well adopted However Tria’s focus is on utilising opportunities regardless of region enabling innovation and growth to happen on a global scale The market in general is slow right now from the perspective of new opportunities and for billings and this is seen across the board In what ways do you see AI impacting Tria? AI is a big marketing buzzword – we see a lot of customers still trying to build a viable business case around it We’re seeing more customers wanting to leverage it at the edge rather than depending on cloud connectivity which means we’re seeing increased demand for intensive processing closer to the edge For customers that would rather use the cloud for AI processing they’re demanding more reliable connectivity options We will offer customers AI technology as part of our offering but so far we haven’t seen anything truly headturning The questions were asked by Lukas Steiglechner Avnet Hall B5 Booth 103 Thomas Staudinger Avnet Embedded Solutions “We’re seeing more customers wanting to leverage it at the edge rather than depending on cloud connectivity ”
