8 EMS Guide 2022 www markttechnik de Strategien Trends allow us to increasingly offer complete solutions to our customers and thus ensure the new company’s successful development in a rapidly changing EMS market Kaiser We do business in many of the same markets that is also an advantage Enics operates more than seven production sites in China Estonia Finland Malaysia Slovakia and Sweden while GPV has a total of twelve manufacturing locations in Denmark Switzerland Germany Austria Sri Lanka Thailand Mexico and Slovakia During the course of the discussions between Enics and GPV the possibility of reciprocal use of our respective capabilities has become increasingly likely added to which the corporate cultures of the two companies are also a good fit – so the merger holds advantages for both in the short and long term Has the merger with Enics now been fully completed and have all regulatory approvals been obtained? Lybaek At this moment the antitrust authorities are still to finally approve the merger and as stated when the transaction was made public in June 2022 we expect it will still take several months to obtain approval However the process is now expected to go smoothly GPV has already moved into the top ten in Europe through its acquisition of CCS Where does the group stand today? Lybaek Together with Enics we will become the second largest electronics manufacturer in Europe We have set ourselves the strategic goal of growing to 1 4 billion euros by 2026 Given the strength of both companies we see this as a realistic target When the merger is complete we will have a unique very highquality service offering and that makes us extremely confident despite the uncertainties in today’s business environment which are a challenge both for us and the whole industry What role does the size of a company play in the EMS segment? Kaiser In the EMS industry size does indeed play an important role For example a strong presence in Asia Europe as well as North and South America is crucial And given current regionalization trends having this presence will become even more important in the future Therefore our main objective over the coming years will be to benefit from each other’s strengths Enics is an industry leader in the design development and manufacture of test systems for some of the largest customers worldwide GPV is a fullservice EMS provider with a strong market focus specializing in handling highmix product portfolios product design and development So united under one roof we will become an even stronger player Will Enics continue to exist as a brand or be integrated into GPV? Lybaek Planning for the merger with Enics is proceeding at full speed and we are doing everything we can to make the integration process as effective as possible We have prepared as well as possible for the merger into a consolidated company We are not yet able to announce the new company name but Iwould like to emphasize at this point that our customers and suppliers can count on maintaining their previous contacts Basically our business partners are simply asking us for more of what we have to offer and do best In what ways do GPV and Enics complement each other so perfectly as claimed by GPV in a press release on the merger? Kaiser Enics and GPV complement each other in many respects but each also enjoys its own area of expertise As already mentioned Enics focuses strongly on electronics production and is very well positioned in that field while GPV counts product design inhouse mechanics and cable harness production among its strengths in addition to electronics We see great potential in these areas in relation to Enics’ current customer base Once the merger is complete we will be even better equipped to offer our customers complete solutions This is just one example of areas in which the two companies will complement each other and benefit from each other’s strengths We have drawn up a competence profile that clearly shows the very good match and the benefits the merger will bring to both our customers and ourselves What organizational changes will occur within GPV as a result of the merger? Lybaek We need everyone both at Enics and GPV and we need all available capacity Our order books are full and every day we work hard to deliver the highest quality products to our customers How do you as an organization deal with today’s geopolitical challenges and what role do they play for your company? Lybaek Ican currently only answer this question on behalf of GPV As we are not dependent on customers or suppliers in Ukraine or Russia we are not directly affected by the situation in either country However we condemn Russian aggression against Ukraine The past few years have taught us that to solve problems beyond our control good preparation and a quick response are crucial factors which is why we have set up task forces in various areas Our greatest geopolitical concern at present is Sri Lanka where we have been operating since 1985 However the situation there seems to be gradually improving and the construction of our new factory is progressing according to plan In addition we are building a new machinery plant in Thailand and expanding our electronics production these projects are also proceeding as planned Is there still any blank spot on the map where GPV would like to strengthen its presence? Kaiser We currently feel that we are in a very good position We are jointly driving developments together with our customers and can see no blank spots that we have not chosen for ourselves We are well equipped to meet future challenges especially when it comes to initiatives promoting more sustainable production in fact these initiatives are the key focus areas in our Group What are your strategic goals for the next two years? Lybaek At the moment we are awaiting final approval of the transaction so that we can begin the process of merging GPV and Enics into one combined company - as “One New Company ” We are aiming for a rapid merger in the market - that is our targeted goal We approach this task with great respect but we are also working purposefully to together create one of the leading EMS companies in Europe We are very much looking forward to this exciting journey - and to the success and benefits it will bring for the employees and customers of both companies The interview was conducted by Karin Zühlke Bo Lybaek GPV „ We are aiming for a rapid merger in the market - that is our targeted goal We approach this task with great respect but we are also working purposefully to together create one of the leading EMS companies in Europe “
