20 EMS Guide 2020 www markttechnik de Strategien & Trends sessment so far especially with regard to the DACH region? Kaiser We are now completely integrated and consider it very important to act as one entity vis-à-vis the market We have achieved this very quickly both commercially and in our factories If we had continued to work with the two brands first it would have been very complicated Lybaek The acquisition of CCS gave us rapid access to the very innovative industrial DACH market which was and still is being well served by the acquired sites The acquisition process was conducted in a very cooperative spirit and exactly one year later we officially completed the integration phase Thanks to the one company strategy this was implemented very quickly Furthermore we were able to motivate our staff to support all areas of harmonization and integration in a truly fantastic way Retrospectively it is also remarkable that we did not lose a single key employee during this period Finally compared to the previous structures we managed to setup a significantly leaner and functionally oriented organization This has been in place since January 2020 Altogether the integration process was an invaluable strengthening element for the entire company It allowed us to Benchmark ourselves and as a result change some things For example? Lybaek There are many good examples but one of them was the harmonization of KPIs which is something expected by our customers Our two guiding principles Prompt merger in the market stepbystep integration of back office and operations and Creating a leading EMS company together have served us well How can an electronic services provider position itself well in the disruptive market environment of the future? Will the demand for electronic services change? Kaiser That is very difficult to predict Disruptive markets do not necessarily mean that the EMS market will also be caught in a disruptive scenario For the EMS it is not market change itself that is challenging because hardware and software are the elements that support this change and someone has to design and manufacture them and that someone is the EMS industry Disruptions will however come through innovations such as robotics cobots and all the digitized elements such as AI VR and a wellconnected supply chain These disruptive innovations will certainly steer the EMS industry in the right direction In Germany digitization is presently the subject of intense debate as are the lessons to be learned from the Corona pandemic What have you learnt and what conclusions can you draw from the current situation? Lybaek There can be no doubt that the Corona pandemic has opened our eyes to the possibilities of implementing digital collaboration Furthermore it has led to a number of positive results and it is clear that from them we will learn our lessons We are currently working on the introduction of a new production control system i e an MES Manufacturing Execution System for all our factories The MES will include additional digitalization of processes and resource management We expect to reap enormous benefits from uniform procedures at all production sites Kaiser As an EMS partner to a number of major global OEMs we consider it our main task to help our customers to generate growth One of the ways we can do this is by further digitalizing our factories We are continuing along this path and believe that in the long term this will help us to gain market share and attract new customers in growing markets So the MES is the pivotal point of your digitization strategy?
